About the
Foundation
The Joseph Peebles,
Jr. Foundation of Murfreesboro was founded in 2001 to benefit the
youth of Murfreesboro, TN. The basis of the JPJ Foundation is to
assist graduating minority students with funds to attend college.
Based on the criteria set forth by the foundation committee, a
deserving minority student (or students) will receive a cash award
upon graduation to help assist them in their first year of college.
Applications are sent to each high school in Murfreesboro by
February 1 each year.
The JPJ Foundation
funds are generated solely by your donations and from proceeds from
an annual event that takes place in Murfreesboro each Easter
weekend. The “Wodies’ All-Star Weekend” as it is called, consists of
a Friday night Gala and Silent Auction, Saturday morning basketball
tournament, Saturday afternoon picnic; and new for 2007 – a charity
bowling event. Each event will raise money for the foundation. All
funds collected through donations as well as the net proceeds from
the annual weekend go directly to the student(s).
As a reminder, the
JPJ Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Therefore, all contributions made are tax deductible. The foundation
is also registered with the State of Tennessee to accept donations.
